Swap a Toothbrush for a smile during National Smile Month
During National Smile Month, Brixworth Dental Practice, Northampton, are asking children between the ages of 5 and 9 to come into the practice and swap their toothbrush for a brand new one, totally free!
What is National Smile Month? It is a UK wide campaign run between 18 May and 18 June 2015 by the British Health Foundation, who like us at Brixworth Dental Practice are determined to improve oral health in the UK. It’s the UK’s largest and longest running oral health campaign, and pushes 3 key messages to make sure both children and adults maintain a healthy smile:
- Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with fluoride toothpaste.
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks.
- Visit your dentist regularly, as often as recommended.
But why 5-9 year olds? Did you know, despite an overall improvement in the number of children free of tooth decay, over 27% of 5 year olds have tooth decay. Figures from the Health and Social Care Information Centre also shows that more than 25,000 children aged 5-9 are admitted to hospital for extractions for tooth decay each year. A staggering figure!
Pop into Brixworth Dental Practice!
