Brixworth Dental Practice raises awareness for National Smile Month and Cynthia Spencer Hospice
Brixworth Dental Practice had a blast last week! They were raising money and awareness for Cynthia Spencer Hospice with a fun day at their practice, also raising awareness of National Smile Month.
Donning fruit outfits and hopping aboard a static cycle, the team were raising awareness of healthy eating and good oral health. In total, the team cycled 150km and raised £124.83!
Along with raising awareness for Cynthia Spencer Hospice and National Smile Month, the team handed out over 100 sugar sheets to inform members of the public about sugar in certain foods. The team also handed out free fruit and veg, very kindly donated by the team over the road at Troops fruit and veg.
Also a special thanks to Nikki’s daughter, Heidi, who was very helpful in handing out the sugar sheets on the day.
Helen, at Brixworth said: “It was a fantastic day, and along with raising awareness of National Smile Month, we were also able to donate something to Cynthia Spencer Hospice as well. Thanks to everyone that contributed to the day.”
National Smile Month is a campaign running from mid-May through to mid-June, helping to raise awareness of oral health issues. Their slogan on the day: “Did you know: A diet rich in vitamins, minerals, fresh fruit and vegetables can help to prevent gum diseases. Food for thought!” was a great supporting message along with the exercise on the bike, for good overall health.
Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for South Northamptonshire. A sister hospice, Cransley Hospice provides similar services for the North of the county.
