Brushing up this Easter….
Enjoy your chocolate this Easter but remember …….
Your teeth are important in so many ways. Strong and healthy teeth help you chew the right sorts of food to help you grow. They help you to speak clearly. Not to mention, of course, they help you look great when you smile!
The team here at Brixworth Dental Practice are here to help you care for your teeth. And we even promise to try and make it fun!
But there’s lots you can do too to make sure your teeth stay healthy. Here are some of our top tips, and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
Three easy steps to healthier teeth
- Always brush your teeth at least twice a day – The best time to brush is before breakfast and before bedtime. You don’t need to use loads of toothpaste – aim for a pea-sized amount – and make sure you use fluoride toothpaste. It’s not a good idea to swallow the toothpaste so spit out after brushing and remember not to rinse your mouth out. Take your time while brushing – to do a proper job you should spend at least two or three minutes each time you brush, and the best way to brush is using small circular movements. Also, if you’re under eight, do let your mum or dad give you a hand to make sure you’ve got to all those tricky-to-reach bits of your mouth. Lastly, make sure your toothbrush has soft bristles, and you should get a new one every three months. Phew – that’s it!
- Visit a dentist regularly – We know there are more exciting things to do than visit your dentist – but you’ll find we’re lovely! And seeing us regularly is the best way to make sure your teeth stay healthy as it means we can spot any little problems nice and early and sort them out before they develop into bigger ones.
- Eat and drink well – Eat lots of fruit and vegetables they’re great for your teeth. When it comes to snacks, cheese, nuts, breadsticks, raw vegetables with dips. Also watch out for the hidden sugar in foods such as some cereals, yoghurts or pizzas. And don’t forget to drink lots of water and milk, and less of the fizzy drinks and sugary juices.
