Why Visiting Jemma or Priya, our Hygienists is so important
The greatest cause of tooth loss is gum disease. And yet gum disease like dental decay is totally preventable.
A combination of dental hygiene and preventive dentistry is the most effective way to reduce dental disease.
At Brixworth Dental Practice, Northampton our hygienists Jemma and Priya will discuss with you and advise you on the best ways for you to achieve a high standard of oral hygiene. Our aim is to help you Smile for a Lifetime and this is a vital part.
Our hygienists are specially trained in this field. They can provide you with information and spend longer with you to ensure that your needs are individually assessed.
Using the latest methods we clean and gently remove deposits such as plaque from your teeth.
Further techniques such as fissure sealants and topical fluoride can be carried out if required.
You will then be provided with a tailor-made practical home care programme to help you maintain the same high level of dental hygiene.
The end result is that your mouth will feel fresher and look better – all part of our aim to help you to manage and maintain a healthy mouth.
Why is it important to remove plaque?
Plaque is a colony of microscopic bacteria which collect along the gum lines and between your teeth. Most of them are removed by good efficient brushing, but the less accessible areas often need something extra.
Sometimes a “back up” to good brushing is needed. Another problem for many people is food trapping and finding a safe, effective way to remove food debris that will otherwise lead to gum disease.
Evidence has shown that as you improve your dental health your total overall health and well being will be improved helping you to Smile for a Lifetime.
