Crowns allow larger changes in shape and can make up for bigger defects than veneers. They can also be used to cover an implant.
First the tooth is reduced to create a stable base. An impression is taken. This is then sent to the laboratory for the crown to be created. While this is happening a temporary crown will be fitted to keep your smile intact. On certain occasions we will use a combination of crowns and veneers to create a full mouth reconstruction.
How long a crown lasts depends on how well it is looked after. It is important to keep this area just as clean as you would your natural teeth in order to prevent decay affecting the crown. Here at Brixworth Dental Practice we recommend regular six monthly dental examinations and hygiene appointments.
